What is a cashback remortgage?

With a cashback remortgage you receive an initial sum of money that can be used for costs such as stamp duty, legal fees, removals, furniture or renovations. Most lenders allow you to borrow up to 95% of the property value, with cashback of around 5-6%. Often cashback remortgages work in the same way as standard variable rate or tracker remortgages. In some cases, cashback is paid at the end of the remortgage term. Like other deals, there may be a penalty for early repayment.
